Yes, you read the header right. 2 broken wrists. Crazy enough as it sounds, Chase broke both of his wrists yesterday. He was walking home from school and stopped at a park and fell off of the twirly slide and landed on both hands braking them. A very nice lady (still not sure who) carried him to the school where they called 911. He had the fire department and the EMT's there to help him. We got him to the hospital and it was confirmed that both wrists were broken. The right hand was very obvious because of it's disfigurement but we were unsure of the left hand. After X-rays we found out that they both were broken and that both had missed the growth plates on each arm (What a blessing! That means no surgery!). So, after several hours at the hospital they had set his wrists, soft casted them and sent us home.
He was a trooper through the whole thing. He never cried, didn't get mad and was so strong. Now we move onto living life with out arms. Think about it. You can't eat, write, brush teeth, go to the bathroom and many more. This friday we will go back and they will set him in hard casts. Right arm below the shoulder down and the left arm, below the elbow.
Below are pictures of both soft casts, xrays of both arms and his sweatshirt they had to cut off of him.
